Clinton gets small bump nationally in post-debate Fox poll

Hillary Clinton received a small bump in a new national poll conducted after Monday’s presidential debate, but her lead is still within the margin of error over Donald Trump.

{mosads}A Fox News survey released Friday found Clinton taking 43 percent support over Trump at 40 percent. Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson takes 8 percent support and Green Party candidate Jill Stein is at 4 percent.

Clinton led 41 to 40 percent in the same poll released earlier this month.

While Clinton is getting only a modest bounce in the national horse-race polls, the survey found debate viewers saw her as the winner by a 3-to-1 margin, with 61 percent saying Clinton triumphed compared to only 21 percent who said Trump was the victor.

The Fox News survey found Trump’s standing has fallen in several key metrics since the debate. He’s seen a decline in voters who view him as honest, as having a good temperament, and on the question of whether they’d be comfortable with him in the White House.

Clinton’s numbers ticked up on all those counts.

Sixty-seven percent of voters said Clinton has the right temperament to be president, compared to only 37 percent of voters who said the same about Trump.

The disparities between the two are not as overwhelming on the other metrics.

For instance, 43 percent of voters said they’d be comfortable with Trump as president, compared to 50 percent who said the same about Clinton.

Both have dismal ratings on the question of honesty, with 31 percent viewing Trump as trustworthy and 35 percent viewing Clinton as honest. Still, Trump’s numbers on the question of honesty have plunged 8 points since the last survey, while Clinton’s have stayed steady.

The Fox News survey of 1,009 registered voters was conducted between Sept. 27 and Sept. 29 and has a 3 percentage point margin of error.
