Poll: Clinton holds 5-point lead over Trump
Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, is maintaining a 5-point lead over Republican Donald Trump, according to a new national Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll released on Friday.
{mosads}The survey found Clinton leading Trump 43 percent to 38 percent in a two-way contest, with 19 percent saying that they would not vote for either candidate.
In a separate poll that includes third-party candidates, 42 percent of responders said they would support Clinton, 38 percent would support Trump, 7 percent said they would back Libertarian Gary Johnson, and 3 percent supported Green Party’s Jill Stein.
In the same poll from last Friday, Clinton was up by 4 points in a head-to-head matchup and up by 2 points in a four-way contest.
This week’s debate between Trump and Clinton could have played a factor in the latest poll, but polling took place both before and after Monday’s on-stage clash between the two.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll surveyed a pool of 2,501 likely voters between Sept. 23-29. It has a credibility interval of 2 points.
