Poll: Clinton, Trump in close race in Florida
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are neck and neck in the swing state of Florida, according to a poll released Monday by the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
{mosads}The Democratic presidential nominee is favored by 43 percent of likely Florida voters, while her Republican rival is backed by 41 percent in a matchup including third-party candidates. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has the support of 8 percent of likely voters, according to the poll.
In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton’s lead increases to 3 points, 45 percent to 42 percent.
Clinton leads Trump among Hispanic voters, 53 percent to 30 percent, in a head-to-head race. She also holds a significant lead over Trump among African-American voters in Florida, 89 percent to 4 percent.
Trump leads Clinton among white voters, however, 51 percent to 35 percent.
Trump also holds a lead among men, 47 percent to 42 percent. Clinton leads among women by a slightly larger margin, 47 percent to 37 percent.
Pollsters found that both Trump and Clinton are viewed unfavorably by a majority of voters in the Sunshine state.
The poll was conducted from Sept. 15 to 20 among 617 likely Florida voters. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.
According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, the two candidates are essentially tied in Florida, with Trump holding a 0.1-point lead over his Democratic rival.
