Donald Trump’s new campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, on Sunday declined to say whether or not the Republican presidential nominee still backs a deportation force to remove the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country.
{mosads}”To be determined,” Conway said on CNN’s “State of the Union” when asked whether Trump’s immigration plans would include such a force.
Trump has previously called for a deportation force.
Conway attempted to clarify Trump’s stance on immigration, saying he wants to ensure the law is enforced.
“What he supports is to make sure that we enforce the law, that we are respectful of those Americans who are looking for well-paying jobs, and that we are fair and humane for those who live among us in this country,” she said.
As the weeks unfold, Conway said the GOP nominee will lay out the specifics of his plans.
Conway also disputed a report this weekend that said Trump indicated a change in his immigration policies during a meeting.
“What Donald Trump said yesterday in that meeting differed very little from what he has said publicly,” she said.
“We need a fair and humane way of dealing with what is estimated to be about 11 million illegal immigrants in this country.”
Conway said the meeting addressed topics such as job creation, economic revitalization and small-business growth.
“It was a very long, very far-reaching conversation,” she said.
“Nothing was said yesterday that differs from what Mr. Trump has said previously.”
