Clinton focused on deficit with white men in VP search: report
Hillary Clinton’s deficit with white male voters factored into her campaign’s vice presidential search, the New York Times reported Saturday.
Clinton on Friday selected Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) as her running mate.
{mosads}According to the report, Clinton passed on a more diverse group of candidates, including Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), who is black, and Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, who is Hispanic, in order to focus on potential running mates would help negate Donald Trump’s lead among white men.
With that criteria in mind, the former secretary of State reportedly focused on Kaine, Agricultural Secretary Tom Vilsack and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.
Clinton announced her pick Friday night in a tweet and a text message to supporters.
