Republican govs say Trump meeting went ‘very well’

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin said the meeting between presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and other Republican governors went “very well.”

“It was an opportunity for Donald Trump to hear from the governors and for the governors to talk with their political party’s presumptive presidential nominee,” Fallin said in a statement.

{mosads}She said issues discussed during the meeting included jobs and the economy.

Those in attendance also talked about strengthening the country’s national security and building a stronger national defense in the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando, which left 49 dead and 53 wounded. The attack is the deadliest mass-shooting in U.S. history.

Fallin said Trump agreed with the governors on issues such as immigration and regulations coming out of the Obama administration. 

“We shared a common concern for the need for more thorough background checks on refugees to verify their identities before they are allowed to enter the United States,” Fallin said. 

“And we also agreed that the Obama administration during the past eight years has over-reached by passing cumbersome regulations that amount to a power grab that hurt state economies and destroy jobs.”

Trump hinted last month that Fallin was on the short list for the candidate’s running mate. Trump called the Oklahoma governor a “fabulous person.”
