Clinton ally: Oppo research will ‘knock Trump Tower down’

A close ally of Hillary Clinton says opposition research will help Democrats dismantle Donald Trump if he is the GOP presidential nominee.

“[Democrats can] knock Trump Tower down to the sub-basement,” David Brock said Monday night, according to Politico, citing his group’s trove of information.

{mosads}“American Bridge is building a database of all the regular people — from unpaid vendors to harassed tenants to defrauded students at Trump University — who got screwed over for one reason only — they took Trump at his word,” he added.

Brock was addressing a group of liberal donors at the annual spring meeting of the Democracy Alliance in Santa Monica, Calif. He said that American Bridge began stockpiling ammunition on Trump over the summer, adding that both the media and Republicans missed harmful information on the billionaire.

“[Trump] was not properly vetted by his rivals or the press,” he said.

“We sat on it all so as not to help the candidates who might have been stronger general election candidates.”

Brock also said that “Trump won’t be a cakewalk defeat” in a general election before detailing a strategy for toppling the businessman.

“A bare-knuckles campaign is necessary [to label Trump] a danger to the Constitution, a menace to democracy and a threat to the nation as a whole,” he said.

Brock added that his group is similarly ready for war with Ted Cruz, Trump’s closest rival for the GOP presidential nomination.

“[Cruz] isn’t much more than a regional candidate,” he said. “[It’s] a straight-up ideological battle.”

American Bridge 21st Century PAC is a super-PAC that supports Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Trump leads the Republican presidential field with 743 delegates, to 545 for Cruz and 143 for John Kasich.
