Idaho Gov. Butch Otter (R) is backing Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich in the GOP primary, the Kasich campaign said on Wednesday.
{mosads}Otter cited Kasich’s executive experience and record of balancing budgets in a statement released by the Ohio governor’s campaign.
“There’s simply no substitute for executive experience,” Otter said. “Gov. Kasich has proven himself to be a leader who can effectively balance a budget, open the door to job creation and bring people together to find solutions.”
“His record of results is unmatched by any other candidate, and it is time for Republicans to coalesce around his vision for our nation,” he added. “I look forward to spreading his message of optimism and strength here in Idaho.”
The endorsement comes ahead of the March 8 primary in Idaho, where 32 delegates will be allocated proportionally.
Otter was reelected to a third term as governor in 2014.
