Illinois governor’s spokesman moving to Kasich’s campaign

A spokesman for Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner is joining Republican presidential candidate John Kasich’s campaign.

Mike Schrimpf, Rauner’s deputy chief of staff for communications will serve as Kasich’s communications director, Politico reporter Natasha Korecki reported Sunday.

Schrimpf will continue to be a “trusted adviser to Gov. Rauner,” she added.

Kasich finished in fifth place in the South Carolina primary on Saturday, behind Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush.

Bush dropped out of the race on Saturday night after his poor finish in the primary, but Kasich plans to stay in the race.
