Clinton tops Twitter during debate


Hillary Clinton led the Twitter conversation during the MSNBC Democratic presidential debate on Thursday night.

The former secretary of State dominated with 56 percent of the conversation on Twitter, during her final debate with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary. Sanders had a 44 percent share of the Twitter conversation.

But Sanders gained the most Twitter followers during the debate, followed by Republican contender Donald Trump. Clinton had the third highest Twitter growth, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas.) 

The most-tweeted moments during the debate all centered on Wall Street attacks.

The top moment happened when Sanders accused the business model of Wall Street as “fraud.” The second most-tweeted moment was Clinton fighting back to what she called as Sanders’ “artful smear” in attacks on her Wall Street ties. The next most-tweeted moment occurred Clinton said her plans to regulate Wall Street “go further than” Sanders’. 

However, the most-tweeted topic was foreign affairs and national security, followed by healthcare and the economy.
