Trump: ‘Bromance’ with Cruz is over

Donald Trump declared his “bromance” with rival Ted Cruz over when he spoke to reporters after the sixth GOP debate in North Charleston, S.C., on Thursday night.

The debate was dominated by fiery exchanges between Trump and the senator from Texas over everything from Cruz’s eligibility to be president to the real estate developer’s supposed personification of “New York values.”

{mosads}“I guess the bromance is over because he hit me, I didn’t hit him,” Trump told reporters afterward. “I hit him after the fact. … There was no reason for him to go that aggressive.”

Trump also said that Cruz’s attack on New York values was “inappropriate” and invoked the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, as he had done during the debate itself.

The business mogul also declined to shift away from his insistence that there is question mark over Cruz’s constitutional qualification to become president, given his birth in Canada.

“He has a serious problem. We’ll find out what happens but he has a serious problem,” he said.

According to most polls, Trump and Cruz are the two leading contenders for the GOP nomination. The two are in a very close race in Iowa, where caucuses will be held on Feb. 1.
