Rubio touts conservative credentials
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has released a new ad for his presidential campaign boasting about his conservative credentials.
The spot released Thursday touts glowing reviews from a number of right-leaning organizations.
{mosads}It spotlights 100 percent rankings from the National Right to Life Committee, Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks.
The ad also touts Rubio’s 98 percent from the American Conservative Union, his 97 percent from the Club for Growth and his 96 percent from Heritage Action for America.
Other plaudits include A grades from the National Rifle Association and the National Taxpayers Union, as well as a “Taxpayer Superhero” title from Citizens Against Government Waste.
The clip also includes various luminaries from the conservative movement heaping praise on the Florida lawmaker.
Right-wing pundit Glenn Beck, for example, predicts Rubio would defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton if he were to win the GOP’s presidential nomination.
“He will crush Hillary Clinton — crush her,” Beck, a vocal opponent of GOP front-runner Donald Trump, said.
“I’m just really impressed,” the conservative commentator added.
Rubio also receives plaudits from conservative television personality Tomi Lahren in the spot.
“So here it is — I pick Marco Rubio for president,” The Blaze host said. “Here’s why: Rubio is young, tenacious, well-spoken, and, most importantly, he can actually win.”
Rubio’s stance on illegal immigration is facing fresh scrutiny from conservatives. He is also under fire from other White House hopefuls for missing Senate votes.
Rubio currently takes third place nationally in the crowded Republican field, with 11.3 percent support in the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.
He next meets his rivals in the GOP’s sixth presidential debate, in Charleston, S.C., on Thursday night.
