Jeb allies hit Rubio on boots

Jeb Bush’s allied super-PAC is needling Marco Rubio over the recent buzz about the Florida senator’s leather boots in a new video chiding the him for flipping on issues.

{mosads}The bright video from Right to Rise super-PAC shows a dancer in a business suit and boots performing in front of a rainbow-colored screen. A narrator, singing to the tune of “These Boots are Made for Walking,” bashes Rubio for changing his mind on issues including immigration, and criticizes him for missing votes in the Senate while running for president.

It also repeatedly hits Rubio with references to his age and experience, calling him “Young Marco” and telling him “what’s work is work, but you ain’t earned it yet.” Bush allies have often sought to frame Rubio, a fellow Florida politician and former Bush mentee, as a young man in a hurry.

The boot barb comes after the Internet exploded with references to Rubio’s new high-heeled boots on the campaign trail last week, footwear that drew skepticism from his GOP rivals.

The video specifically accuses Rubio of flipping on immigration and on Syria policy, but the immigration argument echoes one of the most prevalent conservative concerns with Bush himself.

GOP front-runner Donald Trump has repeatedly chided Bush for once referring to illegal immigration as an “act of love.” Bush previously supported a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants but has since walked that back.

Rubio similarly backed a pathway to citizenship, but now argues that the issue should be split up into border security, which should receive the top priority, and then immigration policy reform.
