Clinton ally: ‘We are watching The Donald melt down’

An ally of Hillary Clinton on Tuesday said Donald Trump’s “sexist” remarks about the Democratic presidential front-runner will be his demise.

“We are watching The Donald melt down,” predicted Ellen Tauscher, the former California congresswoman who served as undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security Affairs under Clinton.

{mosads}“His racist, sexist, xenophobic rants are now wearing on people generally,” she said.

At a Monday rally in Michigan, Trump joked about a Clinton trip to the bathroom during Saturday’s Democratic debate.

“I know where she went — it’s disgusting, I don’t want to talk about it,” the top-polling candidate for the GOP nomination said to a cheering and laughing crowd. “No, it’s too disgusting. Don’t say it, it’s disgusting.”

He also offered a crass take on Clinton’s defeat to Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary: “She was favored to win, and she got schlonged.”

Clinton’s campaign decided against a formal counterattack on Tuesday, But Tauscher’s comments reflected the anger among her allies and supporters.

“Even the folks caught up in the celebrity culture that thought these performances were funny initially, which is stunning, now realize these comments seem predictable and pathetic,” she said in an interview with The Hill. “What The Donald seems to miss, as he claims he loves women, is that this is a historic election for women and they are done with the juvenile, prurient, potty talk behavior.”
