Joy Behar starting to ‘warm up’ to Trump

“The View” co-host Joy Behar said Wednesday that she sees much in common between GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the Democratic candidate she heaped praise on last week.

“He’ll never replace my arousal feelings for Bernie, but the guy is not as bad as the rest of them,” she said of Trump and the GOP’s 2016 presidential field.

{mosads}“First of all, he may not be pro-choice but [Sen. Marco] Rubio [R-Fla.], for example, believes no abortion even in the cases of rape and incest,” Behar said. “Trump doesn’t say that. Trump does not say that.

“He believes in single payer [healthcare],” she continued. “He wants everybody to have healthcare from the government [and] he wants to raise taxes on the rich.

“He agrees with Bernie [and] he believes in Bernie. I looked this up — I couldn’t believe it, you know?”

Behar also praised Trump for opposing the 2003 invasion of Iraq much earlier than many of his political contemporaries.

“He was against the Iraq War, and he said so in one of his books before 9/11 ever happened,” she said. “So he was like Nostra-Trumpus, you know what I’m saying?

“He’s not as bad as the rest of them on that team,” Behar added. “I’m starting to warm up a little bit to Trump now.”

The other “View” co-hosts also expressed admiration for Trump’s cordial relationship with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, his closest competition for the GOP’s 2016 presidential nomination.

“I would love to see Trump on the main ticket and Ben Carson as his vice president, because they’re just thick as thieves [and] causing trouble everywhere,” said Raven-Symoné.

“[They are] the yin and the yang,” added Cameron Candace Bure. “I’ve noticed a definite shift in Donald Trump [and] the way he talks about Ben.

“He had that whole thing about his faith and he kind of attacked Ben and now there’s a lot of nice words being exchanged,” she added.

Trump and Carson are the only two Republican White House hopefuls above 20 percent across multiple national polls.

The latest RealClearPolitics average of samplings has Trump leading Carson with 27.2 percent to 21.3 percent.
