Sanders: Americans ‘sick and tired’ of Clinton emails
Hillary Clinton’s emails united the top two candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) came to his rival’s defense.
After Clinton gave a lengthy response to a question about her use of a private email server as secretary of State, concluding by saying that she believed voters wanted to hear about other issues, Sanders offered her support.
{mosads}“I think the Secretary is right, and I think the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails,” he said to raucous cheers from the partisan crowd in Las Vegas.
“The American people want to know whether we will have a democracy or an oligarchy as a result of Citizens United. Enough of the emails, let’s talk about the real issues,” Sanders said.
The comments drew a standing ovation and caused Clinton to remark, “Thanks, Bernie!”
The two turned to each other, shook hands and smiled.
The controversy surrounding Clinton’s emails has hurt her in the polls, with voters citing concerns about her trustworthiness.
