Fiorina nabs second lawmaker endorsement

Carly Fiorina has received the backing of a second congresswoman supporting the former Hewlett-Packard CEO’s 2016 White House run.

{mosads}“Carly is a bold and dynamic conservative leader,” Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mich.) said in a video posted on her Facebook page.

“The more people who have an opportunity to hear her message, to listen to her vision and to hear about her ideas about how she will lead America, the more people are responding and the higher she continues to rise,” Miller, who announced earlier this year that she is not seeking reelection, said. “I believe that rise will carry her all the way to the White House.”

“Carly is a woman who has more than proven that she is a serious contender,” added Miller, chairwoman of the House Administration Committee. “I am proud to support the next president of the United States, Carly Fiorina.”

Miller argued on Wednesday that Fiorina is the best fit for the Oval Office because of her business background and knowledge of the world stage.

“Carly is a woman who has a proven record of bold, decisive leadership in the private sector and then as well as clear understanding of the national security threats we face in a very dangerous world, both at home and abroad,” she said.

“We need a president who has the experience, the strength and the qualifications to lead this country on day one, someone who the American people can actually believe and trust,” Miller said.

“The person who I believe meets that criteria just happens to be a woman, and that woman is Carly Fiorina,” the Michigan lawmaker added.

Miller’s endorsement gives Fiorina’s campaign the support of the GOP’s only committee chairwoman in Congress.

It follows the backing of Rep. Lynn Jenkins (Kan.), a top House Republican.

Jenkins, vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, now plans on serving as Fiorina’s co-chair in Kansas.

Fiorina’s stock is rising following a strong performance during last week’s second GOP presidential debate in Simi Valley, Calif.

She ranks sixth out of 15 candidates, with 6.3 percent support, in the latest RealClearPolitics average of national polls.
