Biden makes surprise visit to Delaware political event

Vice President Biden made an unannounced appearance Saturday at a political event in his home state of Delaware as he mulls a 2016 presidential run, NBC News reported.

He stopped by the Sussex Democratic Jamboree in Lewes, Del., which is described as the unofficial kickoff to the election cycle.

{mosads}Biden was scheduled to be in Wilmington this weekend with no public events.

The vice president’s office had said he wouldn’t attend the Jamboree, but an aide told NBC News on Saturday that Biden wanted to “thank the entire Democratic community for their support over the last few months” since the death of his oldest son, Beau, in May.

Aides said Biden is not expected to discuss his possible run for president.

During a conference call earlier this week with members of the Democratic National Committee, Biden said he was unsure whether he has the “emotional fuel” to run for president again after his son’s death.

Beau Biden died earlier this year at the age of 46 of brain cancer. He reportedly urged his father to enter the 2016 presidential race before his death.
