Jim Webb: I met privately with Biden

Former Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), a presidential candidate, said Sunday that he had a private meeting with Vice President Biden last month.

Webb, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said he met with Biden for roughly an hour.

{mosads}His comments came a day after reports that Biden sat down with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a hero among the Democrats’ liberal base, and as reports suggest that the vice president is considering his own White House bid.

Webb, who is currently running far behind Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic race, gave few details on his meeting with Biden.

“I think private meetings are best left that way,” he said, adding that he “wouldn’t get into another individual’s potential campaign.”

But Webb did say that “it doesn’t surprise me that he’s sitting there and talking to someone who has a strong record on economic fairness issues.”
