Fiorina rips Trump’s ‘business of personal insults’

GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said on Sunday that Donald Trump’s aggressive rhetoric slows progress on America’s challenges.

“I think insulting people just because they ask you a tough question isn’t appropriate,” she told host John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on New York’s AM 970.

{mosads}“I don’t think the business of personal insults helps,” Fiorina added. “I don’t think it helps us solve problems. And I don’t think it helps the American people understand what someone will do if elected president.”

Fiorina’s remarks come amid surging national support for her 2016 Oval Office bid following a televised GOP presidential debate earlier this month.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO is one of multiple Republicans chasing after Trump, the front-runner for the party’s nomination next year.

Fiorina argued on Sunday that enthusiasm for campaigns like hers stems from her fresh take on the political process.

“I think people who are coming from outside the political class are getting a serious look,” she said.

“If you look at a lot of polls, the three real outsiders are doing extremely well,” Fiorina said of herself, Trump and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

“I think it’s a reflection of the fact that roughly 80 percent of Americans think we have a professional political class that cares more about its own power and privilege than it does getting things done,” she added.

Fiorina also charged that the track record of career politicians is no longer in their favor. As such, she continued, voters are craving fresh alternatives to the status quo.

“The political class has failed,” Fiorina said. “We talk about the same issues every election and yet it never really seems to get fixed.”

“Ours was intended to be a citizen government,” she added. “Now people are focused on who can actually do this job.”

The ex-technology executive additionally said she does not feel out of place competing as the only female Republican presidential contender next year.

“This is not an unusual place for me,” she said. “I’ve competed against men my whole life.”
