Huckabee headed to Israel to discuss ‘insane’ Iran deal

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Sunday he is heading to Israel this week to discuss the prospects of a nuclear deal with Iran that he called “insane.”

{mosads}The Republican presidential hopeful said he will leave Tuesday and spend a couple of days meeting with officials to discuss the deal that the United States has crafted with Teheran.

“I think it is one of the most dangerous situations that we face, not just for the Middle East but for the rest of the world in a long time,” he said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“This is essentially arming and equipping a terrorist state,” said. “The Iranian government is not to be trusted and we’re being pushed to get into a deal that gives us nothing but gives the Iranians the capacity to ultimately end up with a nuclear weapon.”

Huckabee said he has traveled to Israel dozens of times and also will use to the trip to raise some money for this campaign.

Congress is set to vote next month on the nuclear agreement when it returns from the summer recess.
