Walker launches fundraising committee

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), hot off a well-received Iowa speech, is launching a new fundraising committee as he moves towards a likely presidential bid, top Walker aide Rick Wiley confirmed to The Hill.

{mosads}The committee, called Our American Revival, is the latest — and clearest — sign that Walker is planning a presidential run.

The organization is a 527 leadership committee rather than political action committee, allowing Walker to raise money in far greater sums but prohibiting him from using that money to back other candidates.

Walker impressed many in his high-profile return to Iowa over the weekend and is ramping up outreach and activity as he prepares for a likely White House run. He will also be in Washington, D.C., later this week for a speech sponsored by the American Action Forum.

Wiley, a former Republican National Committee political director, will be executive director for the new organization.

“Our American Revival encompasses the shared values that make our country great; limiting the powers of the federal government to those defined in the Constitution while creating a leaner, more efficient, more effective and more accountable government to the American people,” Walker said in a statement.

The Washington Post first reported the committee’s formation.
