DES MOINES, Iowa — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has made a big hire as he ramps up for a likely presidential bid, bringing in GOP strategist David Polyansky.
{mosads}Texan Polyansky has deep experience in Iowa. He most recently helped guide Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) in both her primary and general elections to surprisingly dominant victories.
Having helped propel then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) to a win in 2008, and having worked on then-Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-Minn.) 2012 bid, the strategist is a veteran of the Iowa presidential primaries.
Polyansky is expected to run Walker’s Iowa campaign should he jump into the race, sources tell The Hill.
The hire comes as Walker quickly staffs up for a likely presidential run and on the eve of his first high-profile visit to Iowa in months. He’s already brought in former Republican National Committee political director Rick Wiley to serve as campaign manager should he run.
Polyansky’s hiring was first reported by the Des Moines Register.
