White House hopeful Johnson becomes eligible for federal matching funds

“We ran like we would serve — free to lead. To protect that freedom, we fully disclosed every contribution. We accepted no contributions above $100. We accepted no PAC money, no super-PAC money, no corporate money and no lobbyist money,” Roemer’s release stated.

{mosads}To be considered for federal matching funds a candidate must raise at least $100,000 “by collecting $5,000 in 20 different states in amounts no greater than $250 from any individual,” according to a release from the FEC.

The candidate must also agree “to an overall spending limit,” to keep “financial records” and to “permi[t] an extensive campaign audit.” A candidate can receive up to $22.8 million, according to the commission.
