Rick Perry heading back to Iowa
Outgoing Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is heading back to Iowa, the latest sign he might take another stab at a White House run.
{mosads}Perry will speak at the Iowa Freedom Summit on Jan. 24, an event organized by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) and the conservative group Citizens United.
The event will be one of Perry’s first public events after leaving office.
He has given many signs he’s planning on another presidential bid, after his 2012 attempt flamed out spectacularly. He’s spent more time in Iowa than almost any other potential Republican contender.
The summit will feature a number of other likely presidential contenders and big-name Republicans. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.), Dr. Ben Carson, former Ambassador John Bolton and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina are slotted to speak.
The event will also feature former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.), Sens. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Mike Lee (Utah), Rep. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) media mogul Donald Trump and Rep.-elect Rod Blum (Iowa).
