Poll: Walker in dead heat for reelection
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is tied with businesswoman Mary Burke (D), according to a new poll from Marquette University.
{mosads}Walker and Burke each pull 46 percent of registered voters in the live-caller poll, though Walker leads by 48 percent to 45 percent among likely voters.
The Wisconsin governor is a polarizing figure in his home state, beloved by his Republican base and hated by Democrats because of his push to change rules on unionization in the state.
A 2012 recall election against him fell short, but this poll suggests he might be slightly more vulnerable this time around. He’s led Burke in most polls of the race, including a March poll from Marquette in which he led by 48 percent to 41 percent.
Walker is considered a potential 2016 presidential candidate — though he’ll have to win reelection first.
The live-caller poll of 805 registered voters was conducted from May 15-18 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 precent.
