Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) said Friday he is not shy about letting people know another run for the White House is a possibility.
“I don’t shy away from telling people running for president is an option for me in the future, but it’s not what I’m focused on,” Perry said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
{mosads}Perry, who is serving his last term as governor, told CNN on Thursday he would likely make his decision to run by the summer of next year — or in about 18 months.
In that interview, he cautioned looking past the 2014 midterm elections would be a mistake.
The Texas governor’s White House bid in 2012 quickly faded after a number of missteps on the campaign trail and in the GOP primary debates.
However, he has made a number of moves, including visiting early nominating states, that indicate he is angling for another bid.
He is slated to visit Iowa, the first caucus state, next week. It will be his second visit to the state since the last presidential election.
