Poll: Benghazi, IRS scandals long-lasting

{mosads}Fifty-five percent of likely voters surveyed by the conservative polling group believe that the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi, Libya, attacks or the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups will still be a major news story in a year’s time, including 22 percent who say that one of the controversies is “Very Likely” to still be in the news. Only 40 percent believe that will not be the case, including 8 percent who think that it’s “Not At All Likely.”

Rasmussen’s results reflect sentiments in other recent polls.

A CNN/ORC poll on May 17-18 found that 85 percent of Americans believe the IRS targeting of conservative groups to be important, including 55 percent who think it’s “Very Important.” In addition, the poll found that 53 percent of Americans are “Dissatisfied” with the administration’s handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack, a figure almost unchanged since last November.

An ABC/Washington Post poll of 1,0001 adults conducted May 16-19 found 74 percent of respondents viewed the IRS’s actions as “inappropriate,” and 55 percent thought the administration was “trying to cover up the facts” on the Benghazi attacks.

The Rasmussen poll of 1,000 likely voters was conducted May 19-20, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
