Facebook users like Palin, Paul Ryan
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the incoming chairman of the House Budget Committee, were ranked by Facebook users as having some of the best political pages on the social networking site.
Facebook asked fans of Congress on Facebook, U.S. Politics on Facebook, and Government on Facebook to name the politicians with the best use of the site in 2010.
Palin was one of the top picks. Her page has more than 2.5 million fans and she uses it to communicate directly with her supporters.
Other politicians listed included Rep.-elect Justin Amash (R-Mich.), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.) and Rep.-elect Scott Rigell (R-Va.).
Meanwhile, Facebook asked social-media experts to name their favorite political pages. Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) and the Tea Party movement got high marks; as did Sen.-elect Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and outgoing Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R).
President Obama also got an honorable mention, with one user noting: “No one has used it better in 2010 than Obama did in 2008.”
