RNC launches educational workshops for Republican women
{mosads}The committee will launch the first of its “Blackboard to Blacktop: Getting Ready to Run” series of workshops this weekend in Providence, R.I., for Republican women in the Northeastern part of the United States.
Workshops are geared toward improving skills in grassroots operations, communications, fundraising efforts, networking and social media for Republican women.
The series, which will also take place in five other major cities nationwide, is part of an ongoing effort from the RNC and the Republican Party more broadly to recruit more women to run for office. The GOP has traditionally had trouble recruiting female candidates and winning the female vote, and the gender gap in last year’s presidential election was sizable.
In a post-mortem report following a disappointing showing in the presidential and Senate contests, the RNC proposed greater outreach to potential women candidates and voters.
