President woos Hollywood donors for DNC campaign coffers

President Obama wooed some of Hollywood’s elite at a $10,000-a-plate Santa Monica fundraising luncheon Friday afternoon for the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

The event, at the home of media executive Peter Chernin, featured a mix of celebrities and high-level politicos.

The incoming and outgoing mayors of the Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti (D) and Antonio Villaraigosa (D), also attended, as did Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Los Angeles Schools Superintendent John Deasy (D).

Obama stressed his desire for Democrats to retake the House in 2014 and hold onto the Senate. The event was a quick stopover in Los Angeles before Obama’s meeting out in the desert with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Due to a shooting at a nearby college, the president was set to motorcade to the Los Angeles airport instead of using Marine One to avoid any impact on the local response to the shooting.
