A former staffer to Ted Kennedy, who shares the same name as the mayor-elect of Boston, received calls from Joe Biden, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the mayor of Minneapolis Tuesday night wishing him congratulations.
{mosads}But they were calling the wrong Martin Walsh, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Wasserman Schultz serves as the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. The connection between Walsh and Minneapolis Mayor R. T. Rybak is unclear.
The politicians meant to call another Martin Walsh, a state representative, who won Tuesday’s mayoral election in Boston.
Walsh takes office in January and succeeds Mayor Tom Menino, who has been serving as the city’s mayor for 20 years.
The Martin Walsh who received the wrong calls is the president at political consulting firm Gateway Public Solutions, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He previously worked as the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-Mass.) campaign manager in the mid-2000s.
