Hackworth is following a familiar path for former Obama staffers, many of whom have broken out on their own to launch private consulting practices.

Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs and 2012 campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt launched a consulting firm earlier this year, a venture that followed deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter’s establishment of her own firm.
