Republican holds key Indiana House seat

Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) is projected to win reelection after a hard-fought campaign against Democratic challenger Lynn Coleman.

{mosads}Walorski’s victory in the swing district further protects the House GOP’s solid majority in a year where Democrats hoped to pick off vulnerable incumbents.

The GOP incumbent edged out Coleman, who jumped into the race after a 23-year career as a police officer.

The race had been considered “likely Republican” by the Cook Political Report, but Walorski was defeated the first time she sought the 2nd Congressional District seat.

In 2010, she lost to then-Rep. Joe Donnelly (D). She later secured the seat in 2012 after Donnelly left for the Senate.
