NJ Republican retains House seat

Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) is projected to hold onto his House seat, earning a second term in office.

The freshman lawmaker is expected to defeat Democrat Frederick LaVergne in a race for New Jersey’s 3rd District seat. LaVergne previousy challenged Randolph in 2014 as an independent.

{mosads}MacArthur ran unopposed in the GOP primary and won the seat in 2014 following the retirement of Rep. Jon Runyan (R).

MacArthur previously served as the mayor of Randolph, N.J.
