Shea-Porter tops Guinta in Round 4

Greg Nash
Democrat Carol Shea-Porter is projected to defeat Rep. Frank Guinta (R), flipping the New Hampshire seat in the fourth straight battle between the two candidates.

{mosads}The race was marked by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) finding that Guinta violated campaign finance laws, as well as its status as one of the most expensive House races in the country.

Guinta first beat Shea-Porter, then a two-term incumbent, in 2010 in the Tea Party wave.

Shea-Porter won the seat back in 2012, but Guinta retook it in 2014.

Last year, the FEC found that Guinta violated campaign finance laws by accepting more than $350,000 in checks from his parents, which he used as a loan to his campaign.

Guinta fended off a challenge from Republican businessman Rich Ashooh in September’s primary. Shea-Porter led Guinta in recent polling, though the margins shrank in the final weeks.
