House Dems set record, raise $6.4M

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee hauled in $6.4 million in January, setting a committee record for the time period, according to numbers first shared with The Hill.

{mosads}The DCCC now has $6.85 million in the bank after its strongest January in a nonelection year, according to a DCCC official.

The committee is carrying $10 million in debt, the same amount it had at the beginning of January, and increased its cash on hand from the $2.2 million it had a month ago. The DCCC also has roughly $2 million more in the bank than it did in January of 2013.

The DCCC’s fundraising total was buttressed by six-figure donations from nine House Democratic leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and former DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.). Pelosi and Luján have been making a big push to get in early donations from the Democratic caucus.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has yet to release its fundraising totals. The NRCC had $1.5 million in the bank and $7.8 million in debt after a successful 2014 election where it increased its House majority to historic margins, while the DCCC had $2.2 million as of the beginning of January.
