Rep. Peterson on reelection: ‘Running at this point’
Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) says he’s planning on running for reelection, though his recent comments to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune suggest his mind isn’t fully made up.
{mosads}Peterson, the 70-year-old ranking member on the House Committee on Agriculture, told the paper that he’s “running at this point.”
“They energized me last time, they got me fired up,” he said after mentioning he has two fundraisers planned already.
Peterson has long been rumored to be considering retirement, and if he does so his Republican-leaning northwest Minnesota district would likely flip to the GOP. Republicans have struggled for years to give him a real fight in his race, though national groups did spend heavily against him last election.
