NRCC picks campaign vice chairmen
The National Republican Congressional Committee has picked its deputy chairmen, selecting a trio of junior members to help lead the committee as it looks to defend its largest majority since World War II.
{mosads}The NRCC has picked Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) as finance chief, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) to head recruitment and Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) to lead its Patriot Program, which helps vulnerable incumbents. The news was first shared with The Hill.
“Reps. Wagner, Hudson, and Stivers have shown exceptional leadership and have been crucial in helping to grow our House majority to a historic level,” said NRCC Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) in a statement. “Together, we will be able to maintain and gain our Republican majority as we look to the 2016 election.”
Wagner and Hudson are entering their second terms, while Stivers was elected in 2010. All three have deep ties with the party despite their short tenures in Congress.
Wagner is a former Missouri Republican Party chairwoman and Republican National Committee co-chair and is well-connected in the Republican donor world.
Stivers, viewed as a rising star, has close ties to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and served in the Ohio state legislature before jumping to Congress.
Hudson was a congressional staffer before he won the seat once held by his old boss, former Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.).
