Ex-GOP rep defeats Dem in third match-up

Former Rep. Frank Guinta (R) took back his old seat from Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D) on Tuesday night, flipping the New Hampshire district for the third time in three election cycles.

{mosads}With 75 percent of precincts reporting, Guinta took 52 percent to Shea-Porter’s 48 percent of the vote.

The two have faced off now three times since 2012, and their latest contest took on familiar themes. This time, they battled over the same issues, but in a political climate more similar to 2010’s, when Guinta first ousted her, than 2012’s, when Shea-Porter won the seat back.

New Hampshire’s 1st District is the more GOP-leaning of the two, and Shea-Porter was one of Democratic Party’s most vulnerable incumbents in the House. She called Guinta to concede before the race had been called.
