French Hill swept to victory in an open House seat in Arkansas on Tuesday, according to multiple outlets, giving Republicans every seat in the state’s congressional delegation.
Hill, a Little Rock businessman, had 49.3 percent of the vote with 61 percent of the votes reporting, to Patrick Henry Hays’s 46.5 percent.
Hill will replace Rep. Tim Griffin (R), who won the race for Arkansas lieutenant governor. Rep. Tom Cotton (R) defeated Sen. Mark Pryor, the last Democrat in the Arkansas delegation, on Tuesday.
The district that Hill won in central Arkansas leans to the right. But Democrats put serious resources behind Hays, the former mayor of North Little Rock, and against Hill, whomthey tried to label a “millionaire banker.”
