Young GOP candidate wins vacant Pa. seat

Republican Ryan Costello has won election in Pennsylvania’s 6th District, beating Manan Trivedi and filling the seat left vacant by Rep. Jim Gerlach (R).

The Associated Press called the race, which was not as close as polls had predicted. Costello was up by double digits with 62 percent of precincts reporting.

Costello, the Chester County Commissioner, promoted domestic energy production and cutting taxes during his campaign.

Three-time congressional candidate Trivedi, a physician and Iraq War combat surgeon, said his top priority would have been raising the minimum wage.
