Cruz stumps for GOP candidate in NH
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) made the rounds in New Hampshire this weekend, campaigning for a GOP congressional candidate.
On Sunday morning, Cruz spoke at a GOP rally in Manchester and then in Concord, N.H. at a “meet and greet.” Later, Cruz will stump for Marilinda Garcia, a state lawmaker who is running for Congress.
{mosads}Garcia is facing former state Rep. Jim Lawrence in a contested GOP primary on Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News reports.
“Two of the most important ways we will win are by standing for principle and standing up to make D.C. listen,” Cruz said, according to the New Hampshire Republican State Committee.
“I’m proud to support Marilinda Garcia …because she is the candidate who will fight to stop President Obama’s amnesty, work to secure the border, and celebrate a legal immigration system that both protects immigrants and our national security interests,” Cruz said in a statement released By the Garcia campaign and reported by the Union Leader.
Cruz will help back up Garcia’s claims that she is bent on securing the border and opposed amnesty for illegal immigrants.
Garcia received scrutiny after co-sponsoring a resolution for immigration reform that backed “legalizing the undocumented population.”
The winner of Tuesday’s primary will face Rep. Annie Kuster (D-N.H.) in November’s election.
