Both members of the Republican Party’s 2012 White House ticket will headline separate fundraisers in September for Virginia House candidate Barbara Comstock (R), who was a staffer on their campaign.
{mosads}Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the vice presidential candidate, will host a reunion event for staffers on Sept. 9, while Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will headline a Sept. 30 fundraiser for Comstock, who’s running for retiring Rep. Frank Wolf’s (R-Va.) seat.
The Romney event will be hosted at the home of GOP super-donors Bill and Bobbie Kilberg, Comstock’s campaign tells The Hill.
Comstock, a well-connected former staffer for both Wolf and Romney, has leveraged her D.C. ties for huge fundraising hauls. She’s raised more than $1.3 million since she got in the race in early 2014, though her opponent, Democrat John Foust (D), has kept pace, partly because of his ability to self-fund.
The Northern Virginia seat is a top target of both parties this fall.
