Have zombies invaded Congress?
A Tea Party candidate who lost to Rep. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) in Tuesday’s GOP primary plans to contest the outcome because he says Lucas is dead and has been replaced with a “look alike.”
Timothy Ray Murray accused the longtime incumbent of having a body double, claiming the “real” Frank Lucas was executed in Ukraine in 2011.
“The election for U.S. House for Oklahoma’s 3rd District will be contested by the Candidate, Timothy Ray Murray,” Murray wrote on his website. “I will be stating that his votes are switched with Rep. Lucas votes, because it is widely known Rep. Frank D. Lucas is no longer alive and has been displayed by a look alike.”
“We know that it is possible to use look alike artificial or manmade replacements,” Murray continued.
But there may be a simpler explanation: Frank Lucas could be a zombie congressman who has come back from the dead to wreak havoc in Washington, though Lucas would beg to differ.
“Many things have been said about me, said to me during course of my campaigns,” Lucas told KFOR, which first reported the story. “This is the first time I’ve ever been accused of being a body double or a robot.”
Murray also implied that he wanted Lucas to take a DNA test to confirm his identity.
Lucas won more than 82 percent of the vote in Oklahoma’s Republican primary and Murray garned 5.2 percent.
The election board officials received Murray’s letter, but he has not formally filed a petition to contest Lucas’ election.
