New York rep survives Tea Party scare
Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) has held on against his Tea Party opponent, defeating New York state Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R).
{mosads}The Associated Press has called the race for Hanna, who led Tenney with 53 percent of the vote to 47 percent, with 95 percent of precincts reporting.
Hanna, one of the least conservative members of the House GOP conference, faced a tough race from Tenney in the Upstate New York district. The social and fiscal conservative had some outside help, including support the Susan B. Anthony List and from Citizens United, who cut a robocall featuring former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) touting Tenney’s campaign. But the backing was not enough.
Hanna is uncontested in the general election in the swing district.
