The National Republican Congressional Committee launched a new radio ad hitting Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) on ObamaCare.
{mosads}The ad comes as the congresswoman is considering jumping into the race in the race in the neighboring 7th District, left open by Rep. Ed Pastor’s (D-Ariz.) retirement announcement last month.
His seat is safely Democratic and would be a much easier race for Sinema than running for reelection in her own 9th District, a much tighter district where she’s facing two Republican challengers.
The NRCC’s ad charges that Sinema “shaped ObamaCare,” using a quote from an interview in which she was talking about her work with the White House on the healthcare law when she was a state legislator.
“Across the country, ObamaCare is raising premiums, canceling plans and hurting job creation — and who can Arizonans thank for this disastrous law? Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema,” a narrator says in the ad.
The narrator adds: “She shaped ObamaCare. Now she’s hurting Arizona families.”
Sinema is currently favored to keep her seat, as she has a solid war chest and hasn’t yet taken much GOP fire.
But if Republicans can drive up her negatives in the 9th District by hammering her with attacks, she might be more inclined to switch races, leaving the 9th District without a clear Democratic contender and delivering Republicans a much easier race.
