Florida seniors hit Alex Sink in new ad

American Crossroads, the Karl-Rove affiliated Republican group, is launching a new ad in the Florida special election featuring local seniors.

{mosads}The seniors hit on three top GOP attacks against Democrat Alex Sink in the ad: They knock her for issues with the state’s pension fund while she was Florida’s chief financial officer, for jobs cut while she was a bank executive and for a taxpayer-funded plane Republicans say she used for inappropriate personal trips.

“Alex Sink sure helped herself,” says a man identified as Pinellas County resident Connie Deneault in the ad.

“But what about us?” asks his wife, Gigi.

The ad, which starts Tuesday and runs through March 11, is backed by a $357,000 buy. It’s the latest volley in an extended back-and-forth between Republican and Democratic groups in the race. Last week, the Democratic super-PAC House Majority PAC released an ad that also featured local seniors, who attacked Republican David Jolly on Social Security.

Florida’s 13th District has a significant elderly population, and both parties are locked in a fierce fight for senior voters in a tight race heading into the final stretch.
