NRCC makes $725K ad buy in Florida special

The National Republican Congressional Committee is pouring $725,000 to support GOP nominee David Jolly in the Florida special House election to replace the late Rep. Bill Young (R).

Two sources confirmed to The Hill that national Republicans have reserved broadcast and cable airtime from Wednesday until Feb. 10., as first reported in Saint Petersblog. The television buy comes on the heels of a $100,000 online ad expenditure the committee launched last week.

And it follows a $200,000 buy from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committe backing an ad hitting Jolly for his career as a lobbyist. But according to a Democratic source tracking ad buys, the DCCC has reserved $1.8 million of airtime through the March special election. Democrat Alex Sink’s campaign has already spent on an ad introducing her to voters

Saint Petersblog is also reporting a major Democratic super PAC, House Majority PAC, purchased $650,000 in airtime in the district.

Democrats are planning to fight fiercely to pick up the seat in the March 11 election, which had been represented by Young for more than four decades and became more competitive with his passing.
