Koch-backed ads hit Dems on ObamaCare
The conservative group Americans for Prosperity on Thursday launched a $1.7 million ad campaign encompassing four House candidates running in competitive districts.
The ads hit two Democrats for their support of ObamaCare: Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.) and Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.).
The campaign also applauds two vulnerable Republicans — Rep. Joe Heck (Nev.) and Dan Benishek (Mich.) — for opposing the law.
{mosads}The group, largely backed by Charles and David Koch, said it has already spent more than $7.6 million against ObamaCare. It ran a series of ads against the law earlier this summer before implementation started in October.
The ad against Rahall, a 19-term House member who decided against a Senate run earlier this year, ticks off early problems with the healthcare rollout, including individuals receiving healthcare cancellation notices and glitches with the website.
“Congressman Nick Rahall voted for it, still supports it, he and other Washington politicians think it is the best they can do,” the narrator says in the ad.
The ad supporting Heck describes him as an American veteran and former doctor, asking viewers to call and thank the Nevada congressman.
“He knows healthcare needs to be reformed, but Joe Heck knew ObamaCare was a bad deal from the start,” the narrator said.
The ads will run on TV and the Internet, and will be accompanied by radio spots and field organizing inside the districts.
